15 - College

"Block - SS151"

I never thought that college could be this fun. But of course, there will be a time that you're pressured and the subjects are hard and will make your brain go crazy.


But what I did enjoy is when I finally got a time with my blockmates. It was the day where we'll be having our AVP shoot for the Speech Choir.


We started our shoot from the APC Discussion room. Then we started our adventure when we finally stepped out from the APC Campus. The first place we have gone through is Metropoint where we'll be riding the LRT for us to get to Intramuros. We got off in Central Station and head our way to SM Manila to buy the props needed for the shoot. We chill for a moment and started another adventure on the way to Intramuros. This part is where we really did our best to calm ourselves. Why? We walked and walked and walked like it's the end of the world. And when we finally got ourselves in the Intramuros, we were relieved that finally just a few steps, we'll be in our destination, which is Fort Santiago.


As soon as we got to Fort Santiago, the participants, hurried and wore their costumes as soon as possible. We have to start the shoot since it was already 2 pm by the time we get there. The cameraman, Eugene Delfin, then started to fix the camera needed. And I, as a leader, helped my members to what they need. For example, I put the props they need in their body, like the scarf and etc.


And when we finally finished the shoot it was 5 pm, so we need to hurry because if we won't hurry and pack up the things, we'll get home late. It was a good experience for all of us, for we have learned something new, I hope so. But as a leader, I learned that I should always think about the members before myself. Because without them, the group is useless.

14 - Death

"Eulogy for Grandmother"

To tell you the truth I had a hard time putting all my granny’s good traits into writing. No matter how hard I try, I can never do justice to what she overcame in her lifetime. I know we are all grieving today for we all lost a great lady. But I know wherever she is now she’s happy and contented with what she left us.


She was a mother, a sister and a friend to all of us. I’m sure each and every one of you here today has something to share on how my grandmother touched your life. She shared a lot of good memories, especially with me, her grandchild. We shared lots of things together and she was one of my favorite mentors. I don’t know if I can still be the same person I was now that she’s gone. I can remember the last activity we did together; we went out to watch a movie. As some of you already know my grandmother really loved to watch classic love stories. Although we never agreed on different things, I always enjoyed our times together. She’d always ask odd questions about what happened to me, how was my day or did I do great in my academics. And I’d just smile at her and tell her everything.





My granny was a very strong woman and she always got her way. Maybe that’s one quality I got from her. She was also a very good adviser. I personally would seek her advice whenever I have problems. We always had short talks. Even if I didn’t finish what I wanted to ask her she already had an answer for it. She was also the kind of person that would think about other people before herself. She never liked asking for help but she was always ready to lend a helping hand to others. She would do everything in her power to help other people.


Although she never got the chance, I think in her own way she was able to show us how important we all were to her. We may no longer see her but we’ll always have these special moments we shared with her. She will always have a special part in our hearts. Let’s just be thankful that we knew a special lady like my grandmother.

12 - Bestfriends

"Bestfriends for Life"

A BESTFRIEND is the one person you can't stay mad at for too long, because you have too many things to talk about. - Unknown


Bestfriend, they are the persons whom you can lean on, cry on. But they're the only person you can go with, without any hesitations.


I have the best, freaking weird and awesome bestfriends! They are Lei ann, Jessalyn, and Lea. I also have other bestfriends but they're my main.

We almost do everything what usually bestfriends do. We go on a dates, spend time together on different houses, go on an amusement park, etc. They're my diary. I can tell them anything without hesitations nor doubt.

Bestfriend, someone who's there for you when your friends turned their backs.

Someone, you can have by your side during your ups and downs. Whatever happens, even though you can't see each other everyday, you'll still know that we'll be there for each other.

Best Friends are very special people in your life. They are the first people you think about when you make plans. They are the first people you go to when you need someone to talk to. You will phone them up just to talk about nothing, or the most important things in your life. When you’re sad they will try their hardest to cheer you up. They give the best hugs in the world! They are the shoulder to cry on, because you know that they truly care about you. In most cases they would take a bullet for you, coz it would be too painful to watch you get hurt. 

Best friend is a person who you value above other friends in your life, someone you have fun with, someone you trust and someone in whom you confide.

Bestfriend is a person closest to your heart, a person where you can rely on, a person that makes you smile, a person that makes you laugh, a person that makes you think, a person that pushes you to the limit of your ability, a person that hugs you when you are in deep sorrow, a person that knows you well from your family, background, trait, how many are you in the family, how many pets you have, how many times a day do you eat, what are you up to, what are you doing, a person that can help you in everything that you can ask for. 

7 - Break-up

It's painful to say goodbye to someone that you don't want to let go. But it's more painful to ask someone to stay if you know they really want to go. -Unknown



People nowadays, look at love, look at relationships like its a trash. Because for them, relationship doesn't do good for them. They think this way because of what they have experienced before. They hid their selves from hurt because they want to deny that they haven't still move on.

But what they didn't know is someone or something will come to save them. They just put up their wall around their hearts, so that no one would dare hurt them again.






People are wrong about thinking that way. They shut their minds from what happened to them. They didn't try to think that after the break-up, everything will be okay. Someone will come better than the past. But no, they just stick to what their minds are thinking.


That's one of the mistake of people. They're not mature enough to think of what better future they'll have if they just move on and let their selves experience everything.





I want everyone to be open-minded enough. I want to develop their maturity and not shut their selves up. We, people, should let go of the things that make our life hard. Cause even I felt that recently. What good will happen if I shut myself up from the things that I should experience? Yes, I might regret, but I know that everything happens for a reason. I thought that we might not meant to be for now, maybe in the future or maybe someone will come.


We might not know. So let us think positive and don't trap ourselves in a cage. Let ourselves go and explore the goodness and the badness of this world that can offer. We all have to go through the pain and happiness because if you can't even experience this then, you can't say you have fulfilled your life. Be mature and think of a better future.

13 - Relationships

"Early Relationships"

Adults are not approve of teenagers having relationships. Why? Because it might cause them to rebel, have low grades and get pregnant. But what they didn’t know is, it can be beneficial. Early relationships can be beneficial than destructive because teenagers can learn things on their own, they can develop their maturity and they can be independent to survive a long ride in life.

The first reason why early relationships can be beneficial to teenagers is because they can learn things on their own. They can learn how a relationship works. How to deal with people with different personalities and attitudes. So that in the future, they’ll be able to handle their future relationships.

Teenagers can develop their maturity when they experience relationships. When we, people, enter in a relationship, not all people are the same. They can develop their maturity from the different experiences they have and from the different people they have met. In these experiences, they can be able to widen their minds and be mature enough to think.

Early relationships can be the first hand experience on being independent. Teenagers can be independent, if the parents will just be open-minded and let their child experience everything. But of course, the parents should guide them thoroughly. It’s like a ticket on being able to decide on your own, do things you like but not will go ahead from your limitations and experience everything.

Early relationships are not a destruction. Maybe for some it might be, but those teenagers are not guided by their parents. Its either their parents are strict or because they’re parents are not there so they started to rebel. Early relationships can be beneficial if only the parents are hands on to their children. Everything will fall into the parents so it’s good if they will be open-minded and guide their children until then.

9 - Celebrating IT Week

"SoCSIT WEEK"

One of the best things you'll ever experience every year is celebrating the special event in the school.


SoCSIT Week, a week where we, IT students, celebrate the founding day of IT School.


We started it by doing a opening ceremony held at the APC Parking Lot. The opening ceremony is headed by the Microsoft Community President, Joanna Heramil. She filled the parking lot with full of energy and love for each of the freshmen to feel it.


The director of the SoCSIT also  gave a welcome remarks. Then, she started to greet the freshmen and explain things and events about the SoCSIT Week.



After that, she begun to introduce the finalists for the Mr. and Ms. SoCSIT 2015. In our block, SS151, we have 2 finalists. Which is Kyla Julian and Rhea Ayungon. They stormed outside as if it was the real competition. When the real competition came, one of them rise up to the top and won the 1st Runner up. We're grateful for Kyla Julian, for winning it, same goes for Rhea Ayungon for trying to win. We also congratulate the newly crowned Mr. and Ms. SoCSIT 2015, Mr. Johann Alpapara and Ms. Nyro Mendoza. With that, the auditorium filled with happy yet grateful people.




Next, the freshmen stormed their way and started the Parade including their creative banners and their best outfit that could suit the theme, "Throwback 90s". They tried their best to make it worth it even if it's too hot outside. There are also interesting events happened in that week, for example, The 30 second of Fame or Shame, LOL Competition and many more. We also won the LOL Competition as the champion.

10 - Anti-Smoking Campaign

"APC's Anti-Smoking Campaign: Are you smoker or not?"

Cigarettes are like squirrels. They are perfectly harmless until you put one in your mouth and light it on fire. - Unknown


Smoking is responsible for several diseases, such as cancer, long-term (chronic) respiratory diseases, and heart disease, as well as premature death. But why do people still continue on smoking even if they know the causes of it?


What are the main causes of smoking?
1. Smoking causes cancer
2. Smoking causes heart or cardiovascular disease
3. Smoking can cause heart attack
4. Smoking can cause chronic lung disease
5. Smoking can cause stroke


Lung cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer deaths in the world. According to the American Lung Association, 90% of male lung cancer patients develop their disease because of smoking. In addition, male smokers are 23 times more likely to develop lung cancer than those who have never smoked. Female smokers are 13 times more likely to develop lung cancer than those who have never smoked.


Some smokers try to stop, but why can't they stop? Smokers can't easily stop from smoking. They have to stop little by little. They can't suddenly stop because their body might not be able to take the sudden change. 


Not only smokers can die from smoking but also there are people who can die by just smelling the smoke. Even if its an adult or a kid, everyone can die from it. So let us start preventing people from smoking.

Tell smokers to stop little by little and go to the sauna to free your body from being addicted to smoking.

Let us make this world a better place for the future generations. Let us teach them how to take care and save Mother Earth from people like us.

11 - Paradise

"All about South Korea"

Annyeonghaseyo! Jeoneun Samantha Imnida. I am here to introduce KPOP and South Korea. The different things and traditions that the famous groups or artist grew up doing or believing. I hope that at the end of the day, you have learned something new.

Language is only a method of communication but in music? Music can connect us. Because music is made to produce a beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion in which we can communicate with our hearts and soul

KPOP is one of the ways to communicate with other people. Even if you can’t understand it, your mind and body will join in to the rhythm and melody of the music. It can also make your body move to the groove. What is KPOP? KPOP is a music genre that originate in South Korea. Of coure, fangirls doesn’t just stick on knowing their idols deeper. We, fangirls, also go through knowing the different things and traditions that our idols grew up doing.

Let’s start with the place, Seoul. The most famous place in South Korea. South Korea is known for its beautiful tourist spots and places but it is actually famous for the historical places it has, which is founded more than 600 years ago by the Joseon dynasty.

Koreans are mostly known for being fashionable. I can say that Koreans are a very unique when it comes to this kind. They have their unique fashion sense which is really cute and swaggy.

            They like to eat spicy food. When I say spicy, it really is spicy as hell. For example, the very famous kimchi and the famous street food or should I say rice cake, tteokbokki.

            Koreans have this tradition that they can drink to what they call as “soju” an alcoholic beverage, whenever they like. The alcohol content of this drink ranges from 16.7% - 45%. Isn’t a bit too hard? Well, most Koreans drink it as if they’re consuming water.

             Age. What are your age? Did you know that when you travel to Korea, you’ll add 1 to your current age? So if you’re 16 as of now, well ladies and gentleman, you’re already 17 in Korea. You’ll also add another year if New Year passed by.

Valentines’ Day is popular around the world but in South Korea, there is a twist. Valentines’ in Korea is all about men. A day where women show their love by giving chocolates and gifts to their husband or boyfriend. Of course, everything changes on March 14. Which is known as White Day. This is the holiday where men buy gifts for the girls, but there’s a catch: A guy is supposed to spend three times the amount of the gift he received on Valentine’s. And of course, most of the gifts are white.

            Make-up. Yes, Korean males put make up on their faces. Just like women, Korean males have a tendency to put make-up on their faces to hide those scars, blemishes and to look more like a celebrity. And I can say, they’re a metrosexual kind of person. Plastic Surgery. Who wouldn’t know that Koreans are famous for this? Just to enlighten you all, Korean entertainment companies really require their artists to have the celebrity like faces. So in this case, Koreans do plastic surgery just to acquire what the company needs regardless the talent.

            Koreans are known for their dramas. Can you name some of them? Princess Hours, My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, Boys over Flowers and many more. I can say that Koreans make the best dramas ever.

            Let’s now move on to the groups. Girl groups. The very famous Wonder Girls which are known for their Nobody song. There are other groups that are famous like Girls’ Generation, Sistar, A-pink, 4Minute and many more.

Boy groups. I bet some of you know G-dragon, well he’s in also the famous group known as Bigbang. Also there are other groups like EXO, GOT7, BTS, Boyfriend and many more.

            KPOP is also known for the so called Fandom. Fandom means fan club and fandom names are much likely related from the group name. Koreans are also known for the expressions like Saranghae, Fighting, and the favorite lines of the fangirls “Oppa”.

          

 I don’t say these things nor just introduce KPOP because I wanted to, but because I want everyone to know what my stand is. I want everyone to know what I really want to say. KPOP is not all about what we understand, but what we hear. Music doesn’t always depends on the lyrics itself. You also have to consider whether the rhythm and melody is good enough. Also, KPOP is not a bad influence. It just depends on the teenager whether she’ll take it as a good one or a bad one. You can’t also say that it’s a hindrance because you might not know that teenagers use it as an inspiration. Be open-minded enough to know things and not judge as what you see and hear.

8 - Hero

"What makes someone a Hero?"

I think a HERO is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people. - Maya Angelou

Hero. Who are these people who can be called as a HERO? Someone who just made a risky action to help others? Someone who fight for what is right?

A hero is a person who is not afraid to step in and correct what they perceive to be wrong, regardless of the situation. They are the people who fight for justice, who fight for what is right. Heroes who will do anything to claim what is rightful. They are the most thoughtful kind of heroes.


A hero is someone who goes to someone who needs help. People who chose to do a risky action just to help other people. The kind of people that may or may not live their life again. They risk even their life for a certain person that they don't even know. That's how heroic a person can be.

A hero is someone that does something good for others/the world but at the same time isn't letting the consequences, whether on them self or others get in the way of doing the good deed and in addition does not expect a reward other then ones own pride and satisfaction by doing the deed. 



Anybody could be a hero but it takes a lot of courage, strength, bravery and reasons to fight for what your stand is. Anybody can be called a hero but for people, one must stand-out. Why? Why do one person have to stand-out if everyone can be a hero? Is it because there's a prize? If people will always think that way, then they should be called stupid. Stupid enough to be that narrow-minded.







Be a good person as you can. Don't be the PERFECT PERSON, cause even the purest and kindest person can be blamed for something he didn't do. Fight for what is right and save people in the right and whole-heartedly way you can and not because of the prize and honor. The size of the hero depends on the size of the deed done and impact caused! There are many, many small hero's and few big ones out there! Jesus being the greatest hero of all!
